GoGolf to revitalise the game

-

THE Malaysian Golf Association’s (MGA) GoGolf programme is a bold bid to revitalise the golf industry with support from strategic and financial partners.

The programme with the support of, among others, Zurich Insurance Malaysia Berhad (ZIMB), BSN and Finexus Group, is designed to create fresh excitement for the sport while developing new talent to be part of the recreational and competitive circuit.

“Essentially, we are staking out a new turf by forming alliances with forward-thinking partners to institute a radical change in our business model,” said MGA president Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor.

“We are committed to working with golf clubs nationwide to provide attractive incentives, new revenue streams, and promotional opportunities to make golfing more accessible and affordable.”

The programme, open to professionals, amateurs, and beginners, enables members to enjoy special privileges at 129 affiliate golf clubs throughout Malaysia.

“We worked on the programme for two years to secure tactical partnerships with the capacity to add valuable resources and financial support to MGA to facilitate innovative and engaging promotions to inspire Malaysians to pursue an interest — or even a career — in golf.”

One of the MGA’s primary objectives for the GoGolf programme is to reinstate the tradition and integrity of the game by re-introducing and enforcing the National Handicapping System (NHS) as a basic entry level requirement for all golfers by next year.

The recent signing ceremony of the Strategic Alliance Agreement for the GoGolf programme between MGA, ZIMB, BSN, and Finexus Group was witnessed by Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, founder of The Mines Resorts and Golf Club.

Among the benefits of being a GoGolf member include instant provisional handicap status for non-NHS golfers with access to play at over 100 golf courses, online and mobile app golf booking, participation in inter-club championships, loyalty reward programmes, discounts on professional golf lesson rates, access to member clubs’ facilities, and much more.
