If you can’t get an appointment to get it fixed, you should avoid driving the car.
It is not worth endangering your life or the lives of your loved ones. In the event of an accident, there is no telling how the airbags in the affected Honda units will deploy. There is no guarantee that it will not malfunction.
According to a report from AP earlier this week, 11 deaths in the United States and five in Malaysia have been linked to faulty Takata airbags.
Honda released the latest figures for its airbag replacements, and from the numbers, it is obvious there are many Malaysians driving around cars with questionable safety.
As of Nov 23, Honda Malaysia has replaced more than 175,000 out of the approximate 264,000 affected Takata driver frontairbag inflators, translating into a completion ratio of 66 per cent.
That means there are 89,000 Honda vehicles out there with airbags that could explode in driver’s faces in an accident, seriously injuring and even killing him.
For the front-passenger airbag inflators, Honda Malaysia has replaced more than 62,300 out of the approximate 125,000 affected, translating into a completion ratio of 50 per cent.
To continue providing more locations and convenience for customers to replace Takata front airbag inflators, Honda Malaysia is extending the 11 Mobile Hubs at shopping malls to 18 shopping malls until Dec 25. Customers can check on the latest locations of the mobile hubs at shopping malls at www.honda.com.my or www. productrecall.honda.com.my
