JMM lodges report with Islamic council
JOHOR BARU: Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) yesterday lodged a report with the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAIJ) regarding a statutory declaration (SD) that alleged that former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had a sexual relationship with a married woman during his tenure as Johor menteri besar more than two decades ago.
JMM president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah presented the report to the council’s assistant director of administration, Mohd Redzuan Abd Rasid, at its office here.
Azwanddin said JMM hoped the council would be proactive in investigating the matter and would call the former Umno deputy president and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president to record his statement.
“The SD was used as evidence in a divorce proceeding between Stanley Clement Augustin and Nika Ghee Siew Yee and it states that Muhyiddin had a sexual relationship with Ghee.
“It also states they met every two weeks and that a significant amount of money changed hands after every encounter.”
Azwanddin said the allegation should be taken seriously as it was mentioned in an SD, which was valid and had been presented in court.
“Action should be taken against Augustin if he is lying, because this would mean that he had committed perjury,” said Azwanddin.
He said he would leave it to MAIJ to investigate the matter.
“I have given them seven days to investigate the matter and provide us with an update,” said Azwanddin, adding that he lodged a report with MAIJ after receiving legal advice on the matter.
“We have lodged a report in Kuala Lumpur on this matter.
“However, as some of the encounters happened in Johor, we were advised to also lodge a report in Johor,” said Azwanddin.
