The Indonesian actor caught the attention of moviegoers in Malaysia and his home country after playing Rangga, the lead character in the 2002 Indonesian cult romance, Ada Apa dengan Cinta? It was a role he reprised in Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? 2 which was released earlier this year.

In 2005, he won Most Favourite Actor at the MTV Indonesia Movie Awards, and Best Actor at the Indonesian Movie Awards for his role in Joko Anwar’s Janji Joni. He also took home Best Leading Actor at the Citra Award in the same year for his role in Riri Riza’s Gie.

Nicholas, who is of German and Indonesian descent, has a degree in architecture from the University of Indonesia.

Towering over everyone at 1.78m, he began his career under the bright lights as a runway model before becoming an actor. He also appeared on Datuk Siti Nurhaliza’s music video for her 2003 song Debaran Cinta.
