PHIL Jones was ‘gutted’ when Manchester United once again dropped Premier League points by conceding a late goal, this time against Everton, and admitted it is now a ‘common trend’ for the team.

Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park meant United again failed to see out a match from a promising position, after conceding an 87thminute penalty after a foul by exEverton player Marouane Fellaini.

Post-match footage showed Fabgreas attempt to greet his former manager as players and staff shook hands following the Blues’ 3-1 victory at the Etihad.

However, Guardiola appeared to dodge the midfielder’s offer of a handshake, sending viewers into a frenzy on social media.

Fans were quick to suggest the incident had something to do with Fabregas’ involvement in Fernandinho's including consecutive 1-1 draws against Arsenal, West Ham United and Everton.

Jones told the Manchester United website: “We are losing too many points now. It’s becoming a common trend, and we need to put that

In his blog, also on United’s website, Mata wrote: “We could just say that it was a pity and how helpless we feel when important points slip Monday.

City striker Aguero’s reckless tackle on Chelsea defender David Luiz in stoppage time sparked a melee at the Etihad Stadium, with players and coaching staff from both teams involved in ugly scenes.

City’s Aguero and Fernandinho were sent off and will serve four and three-game bans respectively.

“We have to look forward. Complaining about the bad luck is not worth it. We must close the games and get what we deserve. That should be the only idea in our heads.”

United’s dropped points means they are down in sixth in the Premier League, 13 points off the top.

On Sunday they host Tottenham Hotspur, who are one place and six points better off, in a game they must win to restore momentum to their chase for Champions League football. Daily Mail
