ISKANDAR PUTERI: Global Business Services (GBS) Iskandar has secured committed investments valued at RM1.4 billion from local and multinational companies and created 2,800 jobs since it was introduced three years ago.

Latest to join the GBS Iskandar community is Singapore-listed Courts Asia Ltd, one of Southeast Asia’s leading electric, information technology and furniture retailers.

Others already on board include Frost & Sullivan, Brandt International, Vistra Global and Odinsoft.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, speaking at the Iskandar Malaysia 10th anniversary lunch, here, yesterday, announced that GBS was now one of the promoted sectors in Iskandar Malaysia in place of Financial and Business Services.

Qualified companies and workers under this sector can also apply for related incentives.

“The establishment of Courts Asia’s shared services solution centre in Iskandar Puteri to support its operations demonstrates Malaysia’s strong socio-economic fundamentals and attractiveness as a viable investment destination in the region,” said Najib.

The specialised programme is managed by i2M Ventures Sdn Bhd, which is a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

The programme is to facilitate businesses to locate their GBS operations in Iskandar Puteri and enjoy expert facilitation to meet their GBS location requirements, covering key areas such as talent, infrastructure, liveability and incentives.

Qualified firms can also enjoy privileged access to customised incentives provided by GBS Iskandar.
