36 sign up to help turn Forest City into smart city
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd (CGPV) will be collaborating with 36 global strategic partners from various industries towards developing Forest City into a smart and green city.
These partners are reputable organisations from industries such as medical and healthcare, education and training, tourism, financial services, manufacturing industry, emerging technologies, smart city and green building.
CGPV, the developer of Forest City, signed agreements with the strategic partners, here, yesterday.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and China’s ambassador to Malaysia Dr Huang Huikang.
Also present were CGPV executive director Datuk Daing A. Malek Daing A. Rahman and Country Garden Holdings executive chairman Yueng Kwok Keung.
Signing on behalf of CGPV was its executive director Datuk Md Othman Yusof.
Among the strategic partners that inked the agreement are Fortune 500 companies Huawei, Cisco, Accenture, Midea, China Construction Steel Structure Corp, Deutsche Bank and Bank of China.
“This will cumulatively help Forest City become an economic hub that would complement Iskandar Malaysia, of which it will drive new business activities into the sustainable township,” said GCPV.
Najib also opened the 400-room Phoenix Hotel.
The hotel, developed by GCPV, is managed by Country Garden Hotel Group.
Country Garden Hotel Group, which is also managing a chain of more than 50 hotels in China, is working continuously to expand its expertise with the world’s leading hotel chains, and intends to bring its experience in the hospitality industry to the Iskandar Malaysia region.
The hotel also offers a multi-purpose banquet hall that can accommodate up to 500 people, meeting rooms and a selection of dining options.
“The completion of this hotel is good news for the local population as there would be job opportunities in the service sector arising from this development and would also spur the tourism industry in the region to greater heights,” said CGPV.
