AFTERNOON DELIGHTS
In a crossover between high jewellery and culinary, you can now have a Chopard-themed tea time treats, writes Lili Lajman
WITH the holiday mood and festive spirit kicking in, the end of the year offers a perfect opportunity to wind down after months of continuous hard work.
What better way to take a break from the rat race than to spend a few hours catching up on the latest news with cherished friends over tea and delectable delights?
Visit Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur and indulge in an exclusive afternoon tea by Chopard, a brand renowned for its jewellery creations and timepieces.
After the hugely successful run of the Anya Hindmarch Afternoon Tea, Chopard fills in the space with equally mesmerising tea time creations.
Served at the hotel’s Lounge on the Park, you can enjoy the Chopard Happy Christmas Afternoon Tea in a cosy setting overlooking the soothing view of the lawn outside and the adjoining KLCC Park.
The Christmassy ambience is fur- ther enhanced by the presence of the Happy Chopard Tree, a 5.4m fresh pine tree adorned with silver ornaments, doves, angels, reindeers, crystal balls, snowflakes and ribbon.
The hotel’s award-winning executive pastry chef Tony Hoyle has taken inspiration from the luxury brand’s designs to craft a menu that is packed with sumptuous savouries and scrumptious sweet treats on top of a fine selection of teas coffees.
SWEET TREATS
An experienced patisserie and chocolatier, Hoyle tantalises the sweet tooth with an array of Chopard mini eclairs i.e. filled choux pastry with Manjari chocolate; Christmas log of Mandarin orange and hazelnut; and silver macaron featuring vanilla ganache and fresh raspberries.
Of course, the quintessential afternoon tea would not be complete without scones; and true to form, these are accompanied by an extensive assortment of clotted cream, lemon curd and orange marmalade, as well as strawberry jam.
Aside from petite homemade chocolate, there are also finger foods and canapes such as Tete de Moine, Blue swimmer crabmeat, and duck rillettes.
On weekends, a bonus addition is the Clafoutis, a classic French dessert of baked fruit.
But the most memorable item has got to be the chestnut tart. Resembling a snow-capped mountain, the dainty brown piece is something to behold.
And its taste does not disappoint either. This chestnut treat is both creamy in texture and light in flavour so that the combination is simply perfect without going over the top.
The Chopard Happy Christmas afternoon tea is now available until Dec 31. Served daily from 2.30pm to 6pm, it is priced at RM108nett per person on weekdays and RM128nett per person on weekends.
Meanwhile, Hoyle is also offering limited-edition silver and gold macarons (RM36 onwards per box of eight, 16 and 24 pieces) that are available only at The Mandarin Cake Shop.
Go on, treat yourself to one of the best afternoon teas in Kuala Lumpur and don’t forget to share your luxurious experience on social media by using the hashtag #ChopardxMOKL.
