FOR SOFT, SILKY TRESSES

To revitalise her hair left dry after regular colouring sessions, Meera Murugesan tries the pH-Bonder treatment

-

MOST women do things to hair that are not necessarily in its best interest. Perming, rebonding, colouring, lightening... driven by vanity, we’ve all gone down that road. Thus, hair becomes dry and stiff and loses its elasticity shine and smoothness.

I am guilty of monthly colouring sessions although I do have a legitimate reason — my greying hair. But the regular colouring sessions leave my hair looking stiff and dry and quite often, frizzy.

HAIR RAISING RESCUE

Redken’s pH-Bonder treatment is aimed at promoting hair bond integrity during and after a professional hair colour or lightening service.

The treatment protects hair bonds, balances pH and preserves fibre integrity. In simple words, you get healthier, stronger hair with more shine, smoothness and elasticity.

My treatment at The Soloist salon in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, started with my hair being thoroughly sprayed with Bond Protecting Addictive.

The stylist didn’t wash my hair first but applied the solution in a spray onto sections of my dry hair. I was then told the solution would be left on for five to 10 minutes.

This spray helps protect bonds during technical services and keeps hair fibres strong from within. The solution felt light, nice and cool when applied onto my hair.

After about 10 minutes, a second product was applied. Called Fiber Restorative Pre-Wash Concentrate, it’s supposed to balance hair’s pH and strengthen hair fibre.

It also helps restore weak bonds and smoothens hair cuticles for improved strength, shine and softness during/after technical services.

This solution had a rather thicker texture so the stylist used a brush to apply it. After leaving it on for another five minutes, it was time to shampoo and condition. VisiBLE rEsULTs

I have to admit I noticed a difference immediately after the shampoo. My wet hair felt remarkably soft and silky. It generally tends to be quite dry after a shampoo even if I use conditioner. After the blow dry, my hair remained soft and silky and was very easy to manage in the weeks to come.

The best part was how quick the entire treatment process was - just 30 minutes. Despite the short time, the results were impressive.

My hair had a boost of shine and silkiness that I was very happy with and certainly, I wouldn’t hesitate to give this treatment another go.

But to maintain this healthy boost, one should use the Post-Service Perfector once a week at home before a shampoo.

Just apply onto wet, towel dried hair, massage from roots to ends and leave on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing. Then, follow up with shampoo and conditioner.

The pH-Bonder treatment is optimised for use with Redken lighteners and colours. It’s suitable for all hair types. meera@mediaprima.com.my
