Hafizh, Khairul on right gear after Spain tests

MOTO2 riders Hafizh Syahrin and Khairul Idham Pawi finished 14th and 16th respective­ly in the official test runs at Circuito de Jerez, Spain on Saturday.

Following a three-day test, Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider Hafizh clocked 1:42.895s, 0.906seconds behind 2014 World Champion Alex Marquez of EG 0.0 March VDS.

Two spots behind Hafizh and 0.020 seconds slower is Khairul Idham of Idemitsu Honda Team Asia who finished ahead of 15 Moto2 riders.

In Moto3, Ayumu Sasaki and Adam Norrodin of the Sepang Internatio­nal Circuit (SIC) Racing Team concluded the third and final official testing on the same circuit at 19th and 21st, respective­ly.

Ayumu, with 1:47.157s, was able to use the final day to further advance his work on the Honda NSF250RW, finishing in third place, just 0.633-seconds off the top timesheets led by Italian Nicolo Bulega of Sky Racing Team VR46.

“In the end, we left the test with a good setup that I’m confident I can improve on in Qatar,” said Ayumu.

Adam, 18, pushing himself to the limit, found good pace with his bike in doing 54 laps, and his fastest time was 1:47.435s.

“Overall, I’m happy with how this test has gone. I have a much better feeling on the bike and we have learned a lot that will help us this season,” said Adam.

All four Malaysian riders will head to Qatar for the second official test at Losail Internatio­nal Circuit on March 17-19.
