OTC Asia important platform to gain insights into Asian energy sector
KUALA LUMPUR: Asia’s premier offshore energy event, the Offshore Technology Conference Asia (OTC Asia), will serve as an important platform to gain insights into Asia’s energy sector and its dynamism.
Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) president and group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, a member of the OTC Asia Advisory Committee, said the conference would showcase Asia as a centre of excellence in providing innovative technology and costefficient solutions to the industry.
Themed “Excellence in Asia”, the event would be held from March 20 to 23 next year at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
In a video broadcast during the launch of the event here yesterday, Wan Zulkiflee said while the oil and gas industry was now coping with the challenge of volatile oil prices, the tough environment offered great opportunities for players to redefine their focus.
“Now, more than ever, Asia plays a vital role in leading the global industry to become more resilient,” he added.
The biennial OTC Asia would serve as a meeting point for energy professionals to exchange ideas to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters.
Among other things, the programme would feature high-level executive plenary sessions, country briefings, technical paper presentations of the diverse aspects of the offshore energy resources industry and a leading-edge exhibition.
Aside from Petronas, participating organisations include Baker Hughes, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, GE Oil & Gas, Halliburton, Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Mubadala Petroleum, PTTEP, Sapura Energy, Schlumberger, Shell, TechnipFMC and Weatherford.
Petronas executive vice-president/CEO for upstream Datuk Anuar Taib said OTC Asia 2018 would attract the participation of 20,000 industry professionals. Bernama
