‘Dzulkifli is a master strategist and the brains behind MACC’

-

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has constantly been in the news since late last year till today.

It is observed that much of this news wave has been largely attributed to the aggressive and fearsome approach taken by MACC off late against people who are involved in corruption and abuse of power.

Its target has been diverse, ranging from the lower level of government servants, right up to high-ranking government officials, notable corporate figures, as well as politicians. Personalities who have been bestowed with royal titles have also not been spared. This rare development and courage by MACC has been the constant talk of the nation.

The talk on corruption and abuse of power is seen to be a must topic of conversation among people in coffee shops, intellectual discourses involving academicians, and civil society.

The subject of eradicating corruption and abuse of power has even caught the attention of Malay rulers, who have found it necessary to impart royal decrees to the people on the need to prevent and combat this evil that has plagued society.

Due credit must be given to MACC for their robust operations that have taken place every week, if not every other day. One wonders why such strict measures were not taken previously against people who are corrupt and indulge in the practice of abuse of power.

Many believe that the overwhelming action taken by MACC has been due to its nononsense head, Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad. Yes, it is glaringly obvious that there is a new sheriff in town. He is a person of few words who has let his actions reverberate throughout the nation. A chilling and scary moment for those out there who have and are still involved in the despicable act of corruption and abuse of power.

When Dzulkifli was first appointed as chief commissioner of MACC in August, many had not given him a chance. They had written him off and were unaware of his abilities to lead and bring MACC as a law enforcement agency to another level.

Though he has taken a shy approach on media appearances, many now believe that Dzulkifli is a master strategist and the brains behind every move taken by MACC. One after another has fallen prey to the earlier public warnings given by Dzulkifli.

Nowadays, the perception of Dzulkifli has changed, where even his staunchest critics have applauded him.

There is also a certain initiative introduced by MACC, the Corruption Free Pledge (CFP).

The oath taken under CFP has suddenly swooped the nation almost instantaneously, attracting interests of a massive number of federal and state government agencies, law enforcement agencies, government-linked companies, corporate establishments, as well as a majority of state governments and its officials.

This positive development may have been the result of the domino effect on the aggressive and tireless work done by MACC, which has taken the nation under sudden siege. We only hope that individuals taking the pledge would fully honour their oaths and understand that these pledges come with obligations that need to be adhered to, or else they would risk making themselves another statistic of MACC’s wrath.

According to sources, CFP, too, is another brainchild of Dzulkifli. It is his way of telling individuals that have taken the pledge that MACC is just around the corner and will be watching you closely on how you discharge your duties.

It has been amazing how MACC has evolved and transformed from being an organisation that was morally down due to the lingering controversies of its effectiveness, to being a fearsome law enforcement agency of the nation that bears the hope and the voice of the people.

MACC has clearly sent a message to the nation that a firm stand must be taken against corruption, and that it must be taken now and seriously. An insider source from within MACC shared that MACC has been able to achieve its present successes due to the leadership of Dzulkifli.

He has managed to bring the many factions that exist within the organisation, through his empowerment and inspirational approach, to work closely together with one common purpose, which is to work for the good of the people.

Society is anxious to see that its aspirations for a clean and corruption-free society would be consistently and continuously championed by MACC.

With MACC, the people now have a reason to hope.

Many believe that the overwhelming action taken by MACC has been due to its no-nonsense head, Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad.
