Pacts underline commitment to facilitate participation of Malaysian companies in overseas projects
THE Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) yesterday inked six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with industry partners in India, aimed at opening up opportunities for Malaysian companies in infrastructure development projects in India.
CIDB chief executive Datuk Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid said these deals underlined the company’s commitment to facilitate the participation of local players in overseas projects by building a strong government-to-government relationship.
“There are many infrastructure projects in various Indian states, and these present opportunities for firms with the capacity and expertise in infrastructure development, both locally and abroad,” he said in a statement.
The first MoU was signed with Ircon International Ltd to form joint ventures for railway infrastructure projects and redevelopment of railway stations.
The two organisations will encourage academia and industry players to collaborate on training and promoting innovations in respect to railway infrastructure projects.

The fifth MoU with NSL Infratech Private Ltd, an Indian real estate and infrastructure business giant whose realty business covers information technology parks and commercial buildings, is aimed at enhancing cooperation in sustainable housing projects in India.
The last MoU was inked with VA Tech Wabag Ltd, a leader in water technology market in India.
