THE ALTER EGO

Fiziwoo is the brainchild of Hafizi Woo and Izree Kai Haffiz, who has an architecture background.

Both have different tastes in fashion, combining minimal and precise cutting with extravagant embellishments and flamboyant silhouette.

These are evident in their designs for Magnum, though it is not the first time that Fiziwoo creates a look inspired by the brand.

Two years ago the designers dressed TV personality Belinda Chee in a piece called The Magnum Porcelain Beauty, exuding oriental porcelain skin and demure charm with blossoming blue petals, at the Magnum Kuala Lumpur flagship store opening in Mid Valley Megamall.

This time around, the duo wowed the crowd with five exquisite designs according to each ice cream flavour.

The best part is, to come up with the pieces, the designers tried every flavour in order to understand the taste and the look, as well as the feeling while indulging in them.

“Only then we created our own alter ego; a character that we feel suitable with every flavour.

“We discussed what the character would look like, what would she wear to a certain occasion and how will her personality be in real life,” they say.

The duo consider themselves “experimental” in creating something out of the ordinary, yet retaining the sleek and feminine vibe in their statement pieces.

“Fiziwoo has always been associated with ruffles and peplums. These signatures, which we obtained throughout the years, have become a staple in each of our collection.”

They add that structured looks, either in fabric choice and pattern manipulation paired with classic feminine silhouette, are easily associated with their brand.

SEXY YET DEMURE

Fiziwoo’s creations for Magnum centralised on elegance and classic looks with little bit of skin-showing.

The duo say that the collection is sexy yet demure.

As part of their Spring/Summer 2017 collection, the designs are about a woman who needed to impress a gentleman who is used to having the best and the most beautiful in life.

The Magnum Almond-inspired piece presents a heavily-embellished longsleeve top with low V-cut neckline, paired with a pleated knee-length skirt.

My favourite is the designer’s interpretation of Magnum Black Espresso, in which the off-shoulder top is combined with detailed embellishment on the upper part. Paired with a black flare bootcut pants, the piece exudes confidence and versatility.

The Magnum White Almond is transformed into an all-white off-shoulder dress with designs to mimic the almond, while the Magnum Pink Pomegranate is presented as a ruffle shoulder dress in soft pink hue. Finally, an off-shoulder feathered signature peplum presents the look for Magnum Classic.

Both Hafizi and Izree, whose favourite designers are Christian Dior and Karl Lagerfeld respectively, say they had an amazing time collaborating with Magnum and are looking forward to the next one in the future. Magnum Pink Pomegranate. Magnum Almond. Magnum
