SELAYANG: A 40-year-old “Datin” causes a scene at the magistrate’s court here when she confronted pressmen for covering her case for allegedly employing an illegal worker.

Shapiza Abdul Aziz and her husband, Datuk Mohd Badlishah Abdullah, 53, a businessman, were jointly charged with hiring Herodian Nauf, 37, an Indonesian national with no valid documents last month.

Shapiza, who is a housewife, questioned the presence of pressmen who gathered outside the courtroom after they received a tip-off on her case at 10pm.

“Why are you here? There are so many big cases elsewhere,” she said before leaving the area. It is believed that the woman also threatened to sue the photographers if they used her pictures in their publications.

The duo allegedly committed the offence at Bandar Country Homes in Rawang at 7.30pm on March 7.

The offence, which falls under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/1963, carries a maximum RM50,000 fine or a year’s jail, or both, upon conviction. The court fixed May 15 for re-mention.
