Amelia calls time on career

-

FORMER Sea Games gold medallist Amelia Alicia Anscelly has decided to call it quits to focus on her wedding next year.

The women's doubles player yesterday confirmed that she had handed her resignation letter to BA of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost.

"I haven't decided if I will turn pro because at the moment I don't have a partner. However, I have handed my letter to Morten," said Amelia, who will tie the knot with Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) coach Poh Chai Boon next year.

The Sabah-born shuttler, 29, partnered fellow Sabahan Soong Fie Cho, when they bagged the biennial Games top prize in Singapore two years ago.

Last year, Fie Cho was forced to undergo surgery on both knees, leaving Amelia with no regular partner.

Apart from the Sea Games gold medal, Amelia-Fie Cho were also India Open GP gold champions in 2015.
