KUALA LUMPUR
AIRPORTS under Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) registered 10.5 million passenger movements for last month, up 9.1 per cent from 9.59 million registered in the same month last year.
The airport operator said in a statement yesterday, its international passenger traffic recorded growth of 10.9 per cent to 4.7 million passengers last month, while domestic traffic grew 7.7 per cent to 5.7 million.
The Kuala Lumpur International Airport main terminal’s double-digit growth streak continued with a 23 per cent increase compared with March 2016.
“Overall aircraft movement increased by 0.7 per cent with international movement registering an increase of 3.6 per cent, while domestic movement declined by 1.0 per cent over March 2016.
“The average load factor for March improved to 76.6 per cent, an increase by 2.3 percentage points compared with the same month last year,” it said.
For the first quarter of last year, MAHB handled a total of 30 million passengers, up 7.5 per cent from the same period in 2016.
It said the overall increase in passengers was contributed by growth in airline seats and an improvement in average load factors. Bernama
