Current team to remain until polls, says Johor MB

-

PASIR GUDANG: There will be no reshuffle or new appointment to the current Johor state executive council line-up despite the resignation of Datuk Abdul Latif Bandi as the Housing and Local Government Executive Committee chairman.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the current nine-member exco lineup would be retained until the next general election.

He said Latif's portfolio had been passed on to Datuk Md Jais Sarday.

The latter’s education, information and entrepreneur and cooperative development portfolio had been divided between Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Ismail Mohamed.

“The state government is also aware that a committee has been formed to strengthen the process for the application, exemption and release of Bumiputra property lots.

“We also know that as a result of this issue, the Malaysia AntiCorruption Commission (MACC) has reviewed and made suggestions to the state government on how to update the process and procedures,” said Khaled.

He was speaking after launching an imCoop outlet in Taman Bukit Dahlia here.

Khaled said Latif would remain as Endau assemblyman.

He added that the MACC investigation into the property corruption case would not affect the state government’s plans to build affordable houses for Bumiputeras.

“The state government welcomes the suggestion by the MACC because they are in line with our aim to bring prosperity to the people.

“As a result of what had happened, the state government would continue to monitor the implementation of affordable housing projects while considering suggestions and improvements,” said Khaled.
