MALAYSIANS of all faiths should reject any form of religious extremism to preserve peace, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said they should put aside their differences and unite in maintaining the freedom to practise all cultures and religions.

“We do not want any extremism, be it in Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism or Christianity... because we want to uphold peace in Malaysia.

“Malaysia is a multiracial country. And, it was hard for our Bapa Kemerdekaan (the Father of Independence) and forefathers to shape it for us, but it is harder to maintain it (the harmony).

“It is our duty to defend the country’s harmony.
