Three vying for deputy posts

-

WITH Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria near-certain of being elected president of the BA of Malaysia (BAM) on April 29, the tussle now is for the two deputy posts.

It is learnt that three long-serving badminton officials are vying to become deputies under Norza.

They are Sarawak BA president Tan Sri Amar Abdul Aziz Husain, Selangor BA head Datuk V. Subramaniam and BAM treasurer Datuk Lim Teong Kiat.

“The trio are veteran badminton officials. Amar is a popular figure and he is the frontrunner while the other spot is a toss between Subramaniam and Teong Kiat,” said a source yesterday.

“However, no contest for the two deputy posts is expected as a win-win solution will be reached before the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) on April 29.

“BAM are one family and are united. It is best that there are no contests for the top posts.”

The tussle for the BAM president’s post was settled after acting head Tan Sri Mohd Al Amin Abd Majid agreed to put aside his aspirations for Norza to take up the position on April 29.

The agreement was endorsed by BAM patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and the council last Thursday.

Instead, Al Amin will be recommended for an advisory post at the AGM. Ajitpal Singh
