HADI:DAPHAS CHAUVINISTIC IDEOLOGY
It rejects Islamic leadership in the country, says Pas president

PAS cannot work with DAP because it rejects Islamic leadership in the country. Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said DAP subscribed to a chauvinistic ideology as it disregarded the interest of others.
Hadi said DAP only worried about its own survival and cast aside the spirit of friendship, which was not good for a multiracial society.
“DAP has shown us their principles and concept. They reject Islamic leadership in the country, which is against Pas’s struggle and concept.
“The Federal Constitution stipulates that Islam is the religion of the federation, and at the same time, the majority of Malaysians are Muslims,” said Hadi at the party’s 63rd muktamar yesterday
“A stable country must respect the most ‘influential’ group. This theory is practised in political situations, including in the West.”
He said Pas acknowledged the contributions of non-Malays in the country, but it was against “certain political parties” that were shallow-minded.
Citing an example, Hadi said when Pas was in the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat, DAP had agreed to disagree on issues that Pas was championing.
However, he claimed that DAP went against its word by campaigning against Pas’s struggle, including the move to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, better known as Act 355.
Hadi reminded Muslims to not play into the hands of the “enemies of Islam” who were trying to disunite them, advising them to hold on to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah as guidance.
“What’s important is we don’t allow ourselves to be cradled to sleep, especially in this modern political (age),” he said.
The Marang member of parliament also expressed disappointment with “some Muslims”, who allowed themselves to become tools of the “enemies of Islam”.
“Some Muslims get too excited to the extent that they don’t realise that they are actually being used as pawns in a chess game led by people who have bad intentions against Islam,” he said, in an apparent swipe at Pas’s splinter party, Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).
PAN is working with DAP and PKR, in the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
