Staggering cost of United’s overhaul
MANCHESTER: The astronomical figures paid by Manchester United to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba last summer have been revealed.
United are set to finish outside the Premier League’s top four despite capturing two of the biggest names in football on jaw-dropping contracts, negotiated by agent Mino Raiola.
Ibrahimovic is the best-paid player in the Premier League on £367,640 (RM2 million) a week, totalling just over £19 million a year. He is also due £2.86 million in goal bonuses.
Pogba earns a basic wage of £8.61 million, equating to £165,588 a week, and will receive an annual loyalty bonus in excess of £3.4 million from next year.
Astonishing details of the contracts agreed between United and Raiola for Ibrahimovic are revealed in a book to be published in Germany tomorrow.
It has also emerged that Raiola will be paid over £41 million after bringing Pogba to United from Juventus for a world record £89 million transfer fee.
