BURSA ENDS SLIGHTLY HIGHER

BURSA Malaysia ended marginally higher on gains in select heavyweigh­ts.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) added 0.48 of-a-point to close at 1,775.87 from Thursday’s 1,775.39. It moved between 1,773.15 and 1,778.64 throughout the day, after opening 1.54 points higher at 1,776.93.

On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers 514 to 425, with 369 counters unchanged, 453 untraded and 19 others suspended. Volume fell to 2.70 billion units valued at RM2.17 billion, from 3.55 billion units valued at RM3.47 billion on Thursday.

Among heavyweigh­ts, Maybank gained seven sen to RM9.38, TNB fell two sen to RM13.90 and Public Bank rose two sen to RM19.98, while Sime Darby was flat at RM9.33.

As for actives, Netx shed one sen at 8.5 sen, Glotec lost half-asen to six sen while AT recovered half-a-sen to five sen. Bernama
