Hunt on for 2 men over alleged robbery, rape

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down two men, who are allegedly involved in a robberyrape incident, which was caught on video at an illegal gambling den in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.

It is learnt that the suspects were in fact arrested at a roadblock by Wangsa Maju police on Thursday, the same day the incident happened for suspicious behaviour.

City Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said they were, however, released after the documentation process.

“We were unaware that they were involved in the case. We only realised when their photo went viral on social media. We are now searching for them,” he said yesterday.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said his team had identified the suspects as well as the crime scene.

He confirmed that the owner had lodged a report over the incident at 4.30pm on Saturday.

He said police would also investigate whether the entertainment outlet was operating with a valid licence.

Closed-circuit television camera footage of the crime has since gone viral on social media.

The video shows two men entering the premises.

One was seen ransacking the premises while the other raped the cashier in a corner.

They then switched roles. Police have formed a task force on the case.
