TAWAU: A garbage collector murdered his father during a heated argument yesterday after accusing the latter of having an affair with his wife.

The incident took place at the suspect’s home in Kampung Sungai Gading 1 Wakuba here at 3.10am, where the 27-year-old also tried to kill himself after the murder.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Fadil Marsus said before the incident, the victim, identified as Ali Nordin, 56, had gone to his son’s house, when a heated argument erupted between the two.

“The brawl broke out when the son accused his father of having an affair with the suspect’s wife.

“The argument went on to the point the son lost control, grabbed a knife and stabbed his father in the neck.

“He also used a sword and hacked his father to death before turning the weapon on himself, stabbing his abdomen,” he said.

Fadil said a police team was deployed to the scene after being alerted by neighbours.

They found the victim lying in a pool of blood at the living room.

He said the suspect was seriously injured and was being warded at the district hospital.

“We have seized a 25cm-long knife and 71cm-long sword used in the attack.

“We have confiscated a handphone and detained the suspect’s wife to facilitate investigations,” he said.

He said the suspect was under the influence of drugs during the attack.

In Bukit Mertajam, a factory technician pleaded not guilty at the magistrate’s court yesterday to causing the death of his elder brother last weekend.

Lim Liang Haw, 49, was alleged to have caused the death of Lim Poh Haw, 59, at 6342 Kampung Sama Gagah in Permatang Pauh here at 7.30am on May 14.
