Sherry focuses on cosmetics line, hosting
ACTRESS Sherry Ibrahim has shifted her focus to her beauty product line Deeja Cosmetic and to hosting television shows.
“With the commitments I have, I think it’s better to put acting aside for a while. I like to focus on one thing at a time.
“That way, I can give my best,” said Sherry, 34, who starred in HyppTV drama Tuhan Jagakan Dia, which aired early this year.
The drama series and the telemovie, Dengan Nama Allah, which aired on Astro Ria, were the last two productions she appeared in.
Sherry, whose name is Syarizad Ibrahim, is hosting an Islamic TV magazine show, Pesona Muslimah, on Astro Oasis (Astro channel 106).
Her co-hosts on the 26-episode show are Nisa Kay and Syifa Melvin.
“I’ve finished recording for that show and am shooting another TV programme, Sembang Chef, for RTM,” Sherry said at the press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
The cosmetic entrepreneur is one of several celebrities taking part in the Mood Republik shopping carnival held during the fasting month.
Last year, she was the ambassador for hijab brand Sugarscarf, which was one of the vendors at the annual shopping carnival.
This year, she has acquired a booth to sell her products.
“I’m collaborating with Sugarscarf. Instead of becoming a competitor of the label, I’d rather concentrate on cosmetics.
“I also think fabrics and fashion trends change too fast for me to catch up if I were to start a business. I’m happy with the arrangement now,” she said.
After working as a flight attendant for five years with Malaysia Airlines, Sherry became an actress, appearing in the 2006 television drama series Dunia Baru.
Since then, she has acted in numerous dramas and hosted a few TV shows, including TV9’s Chopp!!
In 2010, she took a break from show business to join Qatar Airways for three years.
“Although I’ve never planned my career, I’m glad about how things turned out for me and where it has led me to.
“My beauty label is my priority at the moment,” said Sherry, who added that she didn’t mind carrying on with hosting jobs, as they are less time-consuming compared with acting. By Tahir Alhamzah
