Fruitful day at Mugello

THE SIC Racing Team felt contented at the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello yesterday.

The positive boost that they have been looking for came when Ayumu Sasaki finished eighth in Moto3 to collect eightpoint­s.

The Japanese finished 0.710 seconds behind winner Andrea Migno, the protege of seven-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi.

Italian Fabio Di Giannanton­io and Spaniard Juanfran Guevara finished second and third respective­ly.

Malaysian Adam Norrodin, the teammate of Ayumu, came in 18th.

Ayumu, 16, is now 17th on the World Championsh­ip standings after six races with 14 points while Adam slipped to 21st position with only six points out of 35 riders.

Spaniard Joan Mir leads the Moto3 World Championsh­ips standings with 108 points.

In Moto2, Hafizh Syahrin of Petronas Raceline Malaysia scored four points after finishing 12th despite starting from 20th position.

The 23-year-old finished 16.310s behind Italian Mattia Pasini, who broke his eight-year winless streak.

Swiss Thomas Luthi and 2014 Moto3 world champion Alex Marquez finished second and third respective­ly.

Khairul Idham Pawi of Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, was on 17th during the warmup but ended up 26th out of 28 riders. Farah Azharie
