Sea Games go ‘green’

IN line with World En­vi­ron­ment Day, the Malaysian Sea Games Or­gan­is­ing Com­mit­tee (Masoc) launched the Green Games Ini­tia­tive in Putrajaya yes­ter­day.

SCGM Ber­had, a ther­mo­form food pack­ag­ing man­u­fac­turer and Silver Spon­sor of the Games (KL2017) in­tro­duced the 4R (Re­duce, Re­use, Re­cy­cle and Re­turn to Mother Na­ture) aware­ness cam­paign.

Deputy Sports Min­is­ter Datuk M. Sar­a­vanan said: “We are sure the Green Games con­cept will be aligned with the de­vel­op­ment of this re­gion and with ef­forts by gov­ern­ment agen­cies to give a pos­i­tive im­pact into mak­ing the KL2017 a suc­cess.”

He also hoped that with Malaysia be­ing the brain­child of the project, it would be the turn­ing point for fu­ture hosts of the Sea Games.

Also present at yes­ter­day’s event were Olympic Coun­cil of Malaysia (OCM) sec­re­tary-gen­eral Datuk Low Beng Choo and SCGM Bhd ex­ec­u­tive chair­man and man­ag­ing direc­tor Datuk Seri Lee Hock Seng. Farah Azharie
