Sea Games go ‘green’

-

IN line with World Environment Day, the Malaysian Sea Games Organising Committee (Masoc) launched the Green Games Initiative in Putrajaya yesterday.

SCGM Berhad, a thermoform food packaging manufacturer and Silver Sponsor of the Games (KL2017) introduced the 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Return to Mother Nature) awareness campaign.

Deputy Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan said: “We are sure the Green Games concept will be aligned with the development of this region and with efforts by government agencies to give a positive impact into making the KL2017 a success.”

He also hoped that with Malaysia being the brainchild of the project, it would be the turning point for future hosts of the Sea Games.

Also present at yesterday’s event were Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary-general Datuk Low Beng Choo and SCGM Bhd executive chairman and managing director Datuk Seri Lee Hock Seng. Farah Azharie
