Probe Dr M’s kids, urges PPBM Youth leader

-

PUTRAJAYA: A Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Armada executive council member has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the alleged extraordinary wealth of the children of party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

PPBM Armada’s Abdul Wahazir Abdul Wahabi claimed that Dr Mahathir’s four children — Marina, Mokhzani, Mukhriz and Mirzan — owned more than 480 companies since their father’s tenure as prime minister.

“We did our own investigation and found that Dr Mahathir’s children own 488 companies, which are still operating.

“As an Armada member, I am taught to reject any element of abuse of power and embezzlement, and to always be transparent with the people.

“A few months ago, my friends and I met Dr Mahathir and raised this issue (his children’s extraordinary wealth), but he denied it.

“However, when we rechecked, his children have been owners of these companies since he was prime minister.”

Wahazir said this after lodging a report at MACC yesterday.

The PPBM Serdang Armada chief said he wanted the MACC to probe into the quartet’s “unusual” wealth.

He said among documents submitted to the MACC included the list of companies owned by the quartet, including Sapura Kencana Petroleum Bhd, Petronas Philharmonic Hall, Musawah Global Consultancy, Sepang International Circuit and Invest Kedah Bhd.

“If it is true that his children own these companies, but the father denied it, then Dr Mahathir is a useless old man.”

Wahazir also condemned Armada chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

He said Syed Saddiq should have brought up the issue (on the alleged wealth of Dr Mahathir’s children) instead of bashing Armada members for “betraying” the party.

“I would like to remind Syed Saddiq not to be stupid in politics.

“As the leader of the party’s youth wing, he has always stressed the importance of maintaining transparency.

“Yet, he did not do anything about this issue.”

Another two committee members, Muhammad Hafiz Azhar and Mohamad Taufiq Abbas, had previously issued statements against the party’s top leadership.
