Puteri Nurul rules the lanes

KEDAH’S Puteri Nurul Dini Mohd Faudzi and Penang’s Nyak Ahmad Lukman Nyak Mazlan proved to be unbeatable again.

Puteri Nurul and Nyak Ahmad Lukman retained their girls’ Open and mixed Under-12 titles respective­ly in the Youth Cup Milo Ranking Masters second leg at Mega Bowling Centre in Prai recently.

The fast rising Puteri Nurul even upstaged the establishe­d keglers, including national youth elite bowlers Nur Amirah Auni Azman and Anis Shazlin Zulkhisham.

The 18-year-old rolled lines of 184, 212, 176, 213, 223, 142, 162 and 186 for a total of 1,498 pins with a 187.3 average, while teammates Kusselin Yuthasax and Nurul Aliya Najiha felled 1,452 pins and 1,386 pins respective­ly. The Kedahans made a clean sweep in the girls’ Open.

In the mixed Under-12 category, the Penangites swept the top three spots with defending champion Nyak Ahmad Lukman Nyak Mazlan showing the way.

The 12-year-old knocked down lines of 206, 148, 150, 168, 159 and 191 for a 1,022 pins total and 170.3 average. Winning the silver and bronze medals were Ong Eileen and Muhammad Hafiz Darwisy.

Penang Tenpin Bowling Associatio­n (PTBA), retained the overall champions title when their juniors won three gold, two silver and two bronze.

Kedah and Perak finished second and third by collecting one gold, two silver and three bronze and one gold and one silver respective­ly. K. Kandiah
