DAD A BROKEN MAN AS WORST FEARS CONFIRMED
Preliminary medical checks state two girls raped, teen son faces jail term
DEVASTATED by allegations that his three young daughters have been sexually assaulted by their own brother, the children’s father is now bracing for the worst after doctors confirmed that two of his daughters were raped.
The 51-year-old man took a deep breath after learning that preliminary medical examination by doctors at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital found rape-related injuries on two of his daughters, aged 8 and 14.
It took him a moment to digest the devastating news.
The man, who was interviewed by the New Straits Times yesterday, said he did not follow reports on the case as he was too distraught.
“What else can I say? My worst fears have been confirmed. It feels like my world has crumbled.
“I am worried about the impact this incident will have on my three daughters.
“At the same time, I also have to face the fact that my teenage son is likely to be thrown behind bars for a long time,” he said at his home in Sungai Layar here.
The man said he would leave it to the police to complete their investigations.
He added that the state Welfare Department had taken custody of his three daughters. The sisters had been sent to a children’s shelter in Jitra.
“I think it is safer for them to be placed under the department’s supervision and care during this period. I hope the officers (counsellors) will be able to help my daughters get through this difficult time,” he said.
Kuala Muda deputy police chief Superintendent Saifi Abd Hamid said the Sungai Petani magistrate’s court granted the police a six-day remand extension against the suspect from yesterday until Aug 2.
The teen, the third of 12 siblings, was detained last Friday when he turned up at the district police headquarters after his mother lodged a report alleging that he had raped his 8-year-old sister.
He was also being probed for allegedly raping his two other sisters aged 14 and 9.
On Monday, Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Al Athrash Wahid said preliminary medical examination confirmed that two of the girls, aged 8 and 14, were raped.
He said police were still waiting for the full medical examination report from doctors at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here.
