BALING: Thinking that their daughter was busy working at Kulim Hospital, an elderly couple was shocked to find that she was killed in an accident.

Abu Hassan Ahmad, 63, said Nur A’isah was supposed to arrive home from work at 8.30am yesterday, but when she failed to show up, he made several calls to her mobile phone.

“She did not pick up my calls. I assumed she was working extra hours at the hospital.

“While I was on my way to Sungai Petani with my wife, Zaharah Saad, 60, I received the news about the accident from a friend,” he said yesterday.

Abu Hassan said Nur A’isah, 32, was the eldest of four siblings and had a 2-year-old daughter, Nur Azlina Umairah Muslan.

He said her husband, Muslan Hashim, 28, worked with the Royal Malaysian Navy in Kuantan, Pahang.

He said his concern now was his granddaughter’s wellbeing.

“Nur Azlina is very close to her mother and she is still too young to understand what had happened,” he said.

Baling district police chief Superintendent Shariffuddin Yusof said the accident occurred about 8.30am when Nur A’isah was travelling from Kulim to Taman Wawasan in Kupang here.

He said the victim lost control of her vehicle, causing it to skid and crash into a road divider on the right side of the road.

“The victim died at the scene due to injuries,” he said.

Shariffuddin said police were investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
