SCOOT Tigerair Pte Ltd (Scoot) the newly formed low-cost, medium-tolong-haul arm of Singapore Airlines Group, is pushing on with its aggressive expansion plan.

The carrier, which was formed following the merger with Tigerair Singapore last month, also unveiled its new tagline, “Escape the Ordinary”.

Scoot chief executive officer Lee Lik Hsin said the tagline was not just a marketing ploy, but the cornerstone of the airline going forward as it strove to be everything but ordinary.

“We have a new mantra going forward and it is ‘Value, Choice, Innovation and Experience’,” he said at a briefing yesterday.

“This means that we intend to run the business in ways that are beyond the ordinary.”

Lee declined to disclose the exact cost savings for its parent company, Budget Aviation Holdings (BAH), which had up till July 25 been operating both Scoot and Tigerair as two separate lowcost carriers.

“I do have to stress that the cost savings are significant and, as a new entity, we do have an enlarged capital expenditure (capex) to push forward with our plan to double our fleet within five years,” said Lee.

Scoot currently has 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 23 Airbus A320s in its fleet.

“We have ordered six Boeing 787 Dreamliners, two of which will be delivered this year. We are expecting four more by the end of next year,” said Lee.

“We have also ordered 39 Airbus A320s, which will be delivered to us beginning next year all the way to 2025.

“Upon completion of all the new plane deliveries, we will have a fleet of 82 planes.”

Scoot also officially kickstarts tickets sales for its latest Malaysian destinations — Kuching and Kuantan.

The two cities will bring the total number of Scoot’s destinations in Malaysia to six after Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang.

The inaugural flights are scheduled on October 29 for Kuching and on February 2 for Kuantan.

To mark the event, the carrier is offering attractive one-way fares from Kuching and Kuantan, which start at as low as RM89.

Customers must enter the “MYSCOOT” promotion code to get a RM15 discount in selected FLYBAG and FLYBAGEAT fares, which starts now and runs till 11.59pm on August 14.
