A bird’s eye-view of the parade to celebrate Malaya’s independence and to honour the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Rahman Tuanku Muhammad in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad building in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 1, 1957. For two hours, 2,000 men and women of Federation and Commonwealth armed forces, together with civilian organisations, marched past the secretariat building and saluted the nation’s first king. He then inspected the guard-of-honour.
