MAHB’s airports handled 11.36m passengers last month

MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) posted a 7.1 per cent passenger traffic growth at its airports to 11.36 million last month from 10.61 million a year ago.

Internatio­nal traffic grew 12.3 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 5.32 million passengers, while domestic traffic improved by 2.9 per cent y-o-y to 6.04 million, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

Overall aircraft movements grew 2.1 per cent, with internatio­nal movements posting a 10.1 per cent rise.

Domestic traffic, however, dropped 2.5 per cent last month from July last year.

MAHB’s network of airports handled 8.5 per cent more passenger traffic to 124.81 million last month, the highest over a 12month period.

The operator’s 39 airports in Malaysia handled 8.34 million passengers last month, which was 5.2 per cent more than the 7.93 million passengers recorded in July last year.

The internatio­nal sector saw an 11.7 per cent increase to 4.3 million passengers handled, versus 3.85 million passengers in July last year.
