The four let on that not everything has to be dark and gloomy. Those who have watched the trailers of would have got a taste of hilarity between the characters.

Ritter explains that Matt wears the dorky costume as Daredevil that Jessica just can’t get past.

“Why would you willingly put that on?” she exclaims.

All agree that the jokes are real given the context of the various characters.

“Although the show is at times really serious, with high stakes and a need to be visceral and scary, at the same time, real life is at times funny and light hearted too.

“In order to serve all of these characters appropriat­ely you need to have some of those jokes, they just fit,” says Cox.

Ritter lets on that the relationsh­ip dynamic between Jessica and Matt is “sort of like taking turns at the wheel in driving and like cat and mouse.” Fans of Marvel’s individual superheroe­s on TV finally get to w The Defenders.
