KL Sea Games gets a rebrand

THE Kuala Lumpur Sea Games 2017 has been officially rebranded as Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) to hype up the games which kick off in just under a week.

Deputy Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan said the KL2017 name also covers the Asean Para Games which will be held in KL two weeks after the Sea Games ends.

“The ministry has conducted various activities to promote the biennial games such as the Torch Run across the country,” said Saravanan, at the signing ceremony for silver and bronze sponsors for KL2017 in Putrajaya yesterday.

Saravanan said he was pleased with the positive support KL2017 has received from the private sector.

“We have also received a lot of sponsorshi­p from local and foreign companies to ensure the games will run smoothly.

“To date we have received close to RM100 million in sponsorshi­p which has exceeded our target.

AEON, one of four silver sponsors, will contribute RM3 million while Molten (Asia Pacific), Mikasa (Sunrise & Co), Victor, Marathon, Double Happiness, Nittaku, Maxwin (Perfect Companion), Medilife, Gloria Jeans, Wiraka, Sunstar, La Martina, Malaysian Resources Corporatio­n Berhad (MRCB), Maju Group, Maha Mas, Ottobock, JVC Kenwood (Mal-Tel Communicat­ion) and Trybes are bronze sponsors.
