VPCM SEES HIGHER H1 SALES AS ECONOMY STRENGTHENS
Company unveils 2 special edition models at Volkswagen Fest, plans more campaigns
VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Car Malaysia (VPCM) saw an increase in sales in the first half and expects continued momentum this year.
“There’s definitely a jump in sales in the first half of this year, and we believe this is because of the better economic conditions,” said its director Erik Winter, without revealing how big of a jump the sales figure was.
“There were a lot of uncertainties last year and Malaysia was hit hard by currency volatility, but things have somewhat stabilised now and that’s reflected in our sales figures,” he said on the sidelines of the Volkswagen Fest 2017, here, yesterday.
Winter said VPCM had more attractive campaigns planned for the rest of the year.
“One campaign that we are doing right now is offering special low interest rates for potential customers so that they, too, can experience how it is to be a Volkswagen owner,” said Winter.
“The campaign will end next month. So far, it has gained a lot of attention and we will roll out more campaigns in the future.”
Winter was referring to the special low-interest rate promotion for hire-purchase loans, which is from as low as 0.28 and 0.88 per cent per annum for the Vento and Passat variants, respectively.
Winter had earlier unveiled two new special edition models — the Jetta ALLSTAR and the 60th Merdeka Edition Beetle — to celebrate Malaysia’s 60th year of independence. Priced at RM109,990, the Jetta ALLSTAR comes with RM3,000 worth of exclusive accessories such as aluminium sports pedals, rear trunk spoiler, “ALLSTAR” scuff plates, emblems and carpet mats. It comes in four colours: Candy White, Platinum Grey, Reflex Silver and Deep Black.
Similar to the iconic Herbie Beetle, the Merdeka Edition Beetle has the number “60” splashed on its hood and livery.
Priced at RM136,888, only 16 exclusive units are available for purchase.
All 16 come with a five-year warranty, 60 months road tax and a limited-edition suitcase.
The Volkswagen Fest, being held at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam, ends tomorrow.
