Nominations for Asean Rice Bowl Awards to close August 30

-

KUALA LUMPUR: There is less than two weeks left until nominations close on August 30 for technology startups in Southeast Asia to propose nominees for the third annual Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards (the Rice Bowl) 2017.

To date, there are more than 1,200 nominations in the pipeline from across the whole Asean region vying in 15 categories.

Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards chairman Lilyana Latiff said nominations usually increase sharply as the closing date approaches.

“Last year, we had more than 1,500 nominations from eight Asean countries, and we are expecting an even bigger pool of nominations this year.

“We do not want any deserving startup to miss out on this year’s awards, so do send them in right away.

“Winners will get a shot of investment via investor matching, forming regional partnerships and gaining global media exposure,” said Lilyana, who is also the chief executive officer of New Entrepreneurs Foundation, the brand owner and principal organiser of the Rice Bowl.

The Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards celebrates innovation and creativity that dares to transform the Southeast Asian economy.

Nominations are open to all Asean startups and ecosystem players established within the past five years.

Nominees will enter a regional network of technology startups that fulfil part of the Rice Bowl’s objectives to map, connect and promote the Asean technology and startup community.

The awards event rewards excellence, best practice and innovation among startups across the region and seeks to increase the region’s visibility as a vibrant global hub for the startup ecosystem through its partnership with the Global Startup Awards.

The Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards is the official Southeast Asia circuit for the Global Startup Awards.

Nominees will first compete at the country level and will subsequently represent their country to compete at the Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards, here, in December.

The winners will then represent Southeast Asia at the Global Startup Awards finale in China.

Startups and ecosystem players are encouraged to nominate deserving startups or even themselves at www.ricebowlawards.com before August 30.
