Cops wrapping up probe into ‘steering lock’ woman

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The woman who wielded a steering lock while yelling at a Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) enforcement officer will know what the law holds for her in the next few days.

Police said they would be finalising their investigation into the case, which had gone viral on social media.

Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said his men were concluding the investigation papers and the case would be referred to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor’s office.

“The woman, in her 40s, had given her statement with her husband, in his 50s, at the district police headquarters at 11pm on Saturday.

“The couple were called in for questioning, but no arrest was made. Her husband has a valid OKU (disabled person) card,” he said yesterday.

On whether the woman’s husband was with her in the car during the 1pm incident, Megat said police were investigating the matter.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

In the 97-second-long video, said to have been recorded at 1pm on Friday, the woman is seen yelling at a MPSJ enforcement officer in Bandar Puteri Puchong.

The commotion began after the woman’s car was clamped because it was not parked in a designated parking lot.

The woman, who was holding a steering lock in a threatening manner, yelled at the officer and said she could not find a parking lot and that she was buying food for her disabled husband.

The officer, who remained calm throughout the situation, explained to her the nature of her offence, but the woman carried on screaming at him.

Her car was towed to a MPSJ depot in Puchong on the same day, and the husband of the woman had gone to the depot and paid the fine, as well as apologised over the incident.
