Squiggly brows and wavy lips

-

BEAUTY trends never fail to amaze me. Trends seem to be getting weirder by the day. Before the advent of social media platforms, beauty trends had a longer shelflife. They were more seasonal rather than a daily occurrence.

But times have changed so we have to keep up. Just like fashion trends, beauty trends also paint a similar scenario whereby one day you’re in, the next day you’re out!

The latest “it” thing to cause social media frenzy is squiggly eyebrows. Yes, they’re exactly what you think they are.

As if it isn’t hard enough to achieve perfectly arched eyebrows by filling them in and fading them out, we’ve got to deal with THIS? This new trend has got me (and I’m sure many others) scratching their heads thinking how and why?

Apparently a beauty blogger named Promise Tamang has been credited for this weird trend. According to an article by the

she was inspired to create squiggly brows after she saw a photo that had been edited to make the eyebrows look wavy.

Soon after, almost every MUA

Would you try these looks? Squiggles bring funky to a whole new level. (makeup artiste) and beauty enthusiasts on Instagram started posting a MOTD (makeup of the day) with their squiggly brows. Oh man, I’m feeling squiggly just writing about this.

Remember when feathered brows, and bleached brows shimmied their way into our social media feed? If you thought that was weird, the squiggles just brought the word funky to a whole new level. Imagine drawing two squiggly lines to frame your face. But the question is how does one achieve this look when our brows are naturally arched?

No, don’t pluck them just yet. According to a few online magazines, you can achieve this look by using washable glue to flatten the hair before guiding it into the curvy direction that you want.

Once that’s settled in, use a concealer and pressed powder to cover the outlines. Next, fill in the brows with black gel liner mixed with brow pomade. I’m not sure how I feel about putting glue on my eyebrows though.

If you’re feeling adventurous, be careful not to draw them too thick though, you wouldn’t want people to think you’ve got two caterpillars crawling on your forehead. WAVY LIPS

Soon after the squiggly brows sent waves across social media (pun intended), in comes another weirder trend — the wavy lip.I just can’t fathom this whole idea of walking around with wavy lips. This is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Some use lipgloss, others use metallic lipsticks to accentuate the look. You can already tell wavy lips require a huge amount of patience to get right. But, hey, if you want to embrace this trend, then by all means, give it a go!

It’s always fun to experiment with makeup.

Looks like there’s nothing stopping these makeup artists and beauty addicts from experimenting with fun, new looks. Wonder what’s the next trend to gain viral attention? We shall just wait and see.
