‘EJEN ALI THE MOVIE’ IN THE WORKS

Animated TV series ‘Ejen Ali’ to be made into a film? SYAHIRAH MOKHTAZAR digs a little deeper

-

THERE are plans to see Ejen Ali come to life on the silver screen. The producers of the popular animated television series, Wau Animation director and chief executive officer Usamah Zaid Yasin, said the film project would be undertaken by them and Primeworks Studios, with a possible cinematic release in 2019.

“Yes, an animated movie is in talks. It will be aptly titled Ejen Ali The Movie.

“However, we are in the midst of discussing the storyline and ideas,” he said at the launch of Season 2 of Ejen Ali at GSC 1 Utama in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, recently.

Primeworks Studios chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar, who was also present said: “Moviegoers would expect something different and mind-blowing when it comes to films.

“Therefore, we need to ensure that we deliver something special on Ejen Ali to the fans,” he said.

Usamah hopes that the series, which is a joint collaboration with Primeworks Studios since its first season (released last year), will continue to rake in high viewership, as it did during its debut season.

“The first season recorded some two million viewers per week, and currently, Ejen Ali is the No. 1 animation series across all TV stations,” he said.

In Season 2, Ejen Ali enrolls into Mata Training Academy.

“There, he faces more conflicts and challenges as he trains alongside the agency’s new young recruits.

“We will introduce about 20 new characters (good and evil) and new environments, ultimately exploring Ejen Ali’s world in a

new light,” said Usamah.

Ejen Ali airs every Friday at 5.30pm on TV3 and is also available for catch-up on www.tonton.com.my
