TV host Zizan to sing with virtual idol Hatsune Miku
DUETS between singers are passé, but a duet between a singer and a 3D hologram is something extremely rare.
In December, popular actor, television host and singer Zizan Razak, 33, will have a one-of-akind experience of singing a duet with globally-known Japanese virtual idol Hatsune Miku at the Hatsune Miku Expo 2017 concert in Kuala Lumpur.
“Who can say no to such an extraordinary opportunity like this?” Zizan said at the concert’s press conference at TGV 1Utama in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, recently.
“She is not only a phenomenal virtual persona, but a global icon with fans from all corners of the world.”
Created in 2007, Hatsune Miku uses a computer-generated voice and 3D graphics to perform on stage. Her global achievements include opening for Lady Gaga’s world tour “ArtRave: The Artpop Ball” and being featured in Pharrell Williams’s remix of Livetune song Last Night, Good Night.
“For the concert, Miku will join me in performing my song, Chentaku. We have not yet discussed anything, but I can’t wait to start,” Zizan said.
With a legion of fans from all over world, Miku is expected to pull in fans from around the region to our shores, and Zizan hopes to use this opportunity to introduce himself to a new crowd and earn some new followers.
“Thanks to Miku’s influence, I will have access to a new group of audiences whom I can convert into Zizan Razak fans,” he said.
However, he is slightly worried about having to address the crowd in English, since his command of the language is not very good.
“I have been told that Miku’s fans are mostly English speakers. I have to practice so that there will not be any untoward incident or misunderstanding,” he said.
“Nevertheless, I will give my best in my performance because this opportunity does not come every day.”
Also performing as opening act is Thai-British YouTube star Chaleeda Gilbert.
