GRAFT-BUSTERS BIKE TO BOND WITH PEOPLE
Sabah tour to spread anti-graft message, says state MACC director
SABAH graft-busters are touring the state’s west coast and interior as part of their Kembara Jelajah Anti Rasuah (Kejar) 2017 programme to build a rapport with the people.
State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Sazali Salbi joined about 100 officers and staff on a one-day tour starting from the Sabah Administration Complex at 7.30am here yesterday.
They were joined by 45 Sabah Big Bikers Association members.
The programme aims at raising awareness and spreading the anti-graft message.
During the tour, the group will stop in five districts: Papar in the west coast as well as Membakut, Beaufort, Sipitang and Sindumin in the interior.
The graft-busters will spend about two hours at each stop to meet the people and explain how they can help MACC.
Sazali said based on the number of reports MACC had received, it showed that people were more willing to provide information to the commission.
“We have received quality information, but need more people to come forward.
“So far, they are willing to become witnesses.
“However, sometimes the type of information that we receive is not related to MACC’s role, but other function and offences.
“Therefore, we need to educate the people on the sort of information we need.
“If the information is not within our jurisdiction, we will refer it to other agencies.”
Sazali said the Kejar 2017 programme was aimed at changing the mindset of the people.
He hoped the programme would encourage people to support MACC’s efforts in combating graft.
