RAJA PUAN BESAR PERAK DIES AT 75

Her body will be taken to Kuala Kangsar royal mausoleum, says Perak MB

RAJA Puan Besar of Perak Raja Nor Mahani Raja Shahar Shah died at 5.07pm in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, yesterday. She was 75. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, in an official announceme­nt, said the body of Raja Nor Mahani would lie in state at Istana Ar-Ridzuan in Jalan Raja Di Hilir here for members of the public to pay their last respects from 10am to 11.30am, while attendance of dignitarie­s would start from 11.30am onwards.

“Tuanku Mahani’s body will be taken to the royal mausoleum in Kuala Kangsar after Asar prayers, before being laid to rest.”

He announced a mourning period until the end of the burial, with all state flags to be flown at half-mast.

“On behalf of the state government and the people of Perak, I would like to convey our condolence­s to the royal family on the demise of the Raja Puan Besar, and pray that she would be placed among the pious.”

Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, 76, and Raja Nor Mahani have a son, Raja Shah Azman, 43, and a daughter, Raja Nor Azwina, 41.
