Local firms, agencies win big in Taiwan
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian companies and organisations continue to be recognised for technological leadership and innovation at the global stage after clinching several awards at the recent World Congress of IT (WCIT) in Taiwan.
Local companies bagged both the 2017 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards (WITSA-GIEA) and Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) awards.
Malaysia’s merit award recipients at WITSA-GIEA were Bestinet Sdn Bhd, which won the Public Sector Award for its Foreign Workers Centralised Management System; Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) with the Digital Opportunity Award for its eUsahawan programme; and Raydar Research with award under the Innovative eHealth Solutions category.
ASOCIO winners included IPAY88, which bagged the award for Outstanding ICT Company, Sin Chew Media Corporation for Outstanding User Organisation, MDEC for its Digital Free Trade Zone and Eduspec Holdings Bhd for ICT Education.
National ICT Association of Malaysia (Pikom) chairman Chin Chee Seong said participation in this year’s WCIT and the subsequent award wins in both WITSA-GIEA and ASOCIO reflected Malaysia’s continued spirit of excellence.
“Pikom is pleased with the achievements by local ICT companies. The wins continue our track record of industry excellence at global levels. These companies have pitted themselves against the best of the best and have done well.
“We invite more local companies to participate as such award competitions are the ideal ground to hone your competitive positioning.”
