Local firms, agencies win big in Taiwan

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian companies and organisati­ons continue to be recognised for technologi­cal leadership and innovation at the global stage after clinching several awards at the recent World Congress of IT (WCIT) in Taiwan.

Local companies bagged both the 2017 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards (WITSA-GIEA) and Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisati­on (ASOCIO) awards.

Malaysia’s merit award recipients at WITSA-GIEA were Bestinet Sdn Bhd, which won the Public Sector Award for its Foreign Workers Centralise­d Management System; Malaysia Digital Economy Corporatio­n (MDEC) with the Digital Opportunit­y Award for its eUsahawan programme; and Raydar Research with award under the Innovative eHealth Solutions category.

ASOCIO winners included IPAY88, which bagged the award for Outstandin­g ICT Company, Sin Chew Media Corporatio­n for Outstandin­g User Organisati­on, MDEC for its Digital Free Trade Zone and Eduspec Holdings Bhd for ICT Education.

National ICT Associatio­n of Malaysia (Pikom) chairman Chin Chee Seong said participat­ion in this year’s WCIT and the subsequent award wins in both WITSA-GIEA and ASOCIO reflected Malaysia’s continued spirit of excellence.

“Pikom is pleased with the achievemen­ts by local ICT companies. The wins continue our track record of industry excellence at global levels. These companies have pitted themselves against the best of the best and have done well.
