THE scandal involving a former MIC branch chairman who allegedly solicited sex in return for favours has taken a new twist. A man has come forward to claim that he has 60 audio recordings of the grassroots leader, who is also a primary school teacher at a Tamil school in Batang Berjuntai, Selangor, making sexual demands in return for helping girls secure jobs.

A video has been circulating via the WhatsApp messaging system where the man revealed that the former MIC man had been “trapped” following a threeweek-long sting.

“I happen to know the victim’s family. The woman in the audio clip is a single mother and although facing poverty, she educated her daughter until she graduated from university.

“The victim found it difficult to get a job despite going for 20 to 30 interviews. This was when the family came across the accused, who promised to help.”

The man claimed that the suspect had asked for sexual favours three weeks ago and the mother, who was furious, told him off.

He claimed that he convinced the mother to continue engaging the suspect so that they could gather evidence against him.

The man said he sought help from a friend, who is the son of a senior MIC leader, to take action against the alleged perpetrator.

He claimed that attempts were made to meet the teacher, but the latter failed to turn up.

This was until the suspect showed up at the MIC headquarters here recently.

However, the victim’s mother refused to lodge a police report as she did not want the case to be highlighted in the media.

“She was worried that if the matter was highlighted, it would embarrass her family. She instead told me to handle the matter,” he added.

It was reported that the 56year-old man had been harassing the girl’s mother to persuade her daughter to have sex with him in exchange for a job opportunity.

The phone conversation between them was allegedly recorded and is widely circulated on social media.

The teacher had tendered his resignation from the party due to the allegation, and had apologised to the girl’s family, but the MIC leadership said he must face the full brunt of the law if the allegations were true.

It is learnt that several police reports were lodged on the matter, including one lodged by Pas Supporters’ Club (DHPP) at Sentul police station yesterday.

DHPP head Datuk N. Balasubramaniam said: “On Tuesday, I listened to the recorded conversation on social media and was disgusted by it.

“In the conversation, he admitted having sex with several 17year-old girls in exchange for guaranteed admission into university. His behaviour has tarnished the image of the teaching profession.

“Authorities as well as the Education Ministry must act firmly against this sexual predator.”
