Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said following the incident, a team from the district Criminal Investigation Department raided the apartment about 4am.

He said investigations revealed that the suspect acted alone. Police secured a seven-day remand order against the man, who had a previous conviction for trespassing.

“During the raid, police seized a black shirt, a pair of blue jeans, a pair of red shoes, a mobile phone and car keys.

“The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, and Section 392/397 of the same code for armed robbery.”

It was reported that the student was raped and robbed by a man, who pretended to ask for directions in Section 7 here.

The 8.30pm incident happened when the victim, aged 22, was walking towards a bus stop after shopping at a night market.

The suspect had allegedly pulled the victim into his car and drove towards an industrial area near an apartment in Section 7, before raping her at a secluded spot.

He stole RM100 from the victim and her mobile phone before ordering her to get out of the vehicle.
