Malaysian efforts to aid Palestine praised

-

PUTRAJAYA: The Grand Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Ekrima Said Sabri, has commended Malaysia for its continuous role in assisting Palestinian Muslims, especially in the liberation of the holy mosque.

He said Malaysia was not new in fighting for Palestinians in Gaza, who were victims of the Tel Aviv regime.

He said Malaysia’s political efforts included refusing to recognise Israel as a country.

“We also receive other material or humanitarian assistance from Malaysia, which is channelled through the government or nongovernmental organisations,” he said after launching MyAQSA Foundation at Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque here yesterday.

Sheikh Ekrima said efforts to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque was the responsibility of all Muslims as control of the mosque was important to Muslims, just like the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Nabawi Mosque in Madinah.

MyAQSA Foundation chief executive officer Noorazman Mohd Samsuddin said MyAQSA Foundation received full support from the government and other agencies.

MyAQSA Foundation would form a smart partnership network between the government and NGOs to help Muslims inside and outside of the country, especially in Palestine.

It is also to increase awareness of Al-Aqsa Mosque as holy place or Muslims that needs to be defended. Bernama
