DAP branch chairman urges Guan Eng to quit

-

SEPANG: A DAP branch chairman has urged Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to resign from his positions in the party, as he was a liability.

Taman Murni DAP branch chairman A. Thirumalvalavan said Guan Eng and his father, Lim Kit Siang, should stop wasting the people’s time and money.

“Guan Eng is not qualified to contest in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) re-election, as he has a few ongoing court cases.

“If other members were going through the same situation (with ongoing court cases), I am sure that they would receive warning letters and not be allowed to contest in the CEC. (So) is this fair?” he asked.

Thirumalvalavan said the father and son were treating DAP as if it was their family’s party.

“They talk a lot about democracy, but in the party itself, they do not practise what they preach.

“There is no democracy in the party,” he said.

Thirumalvalavan added that whenever party members asked questions, they never received answers.

“The top level in this party is never transparent with its members, and we are unhappy about it,” he said.

Thirumalvalavan said DAP’s grassroots members were rejecting the special CEC.

“DAP grassroots members and delegates want the party to hold its CEC re-election at a national congress and not during a special congress this Nov 12,” he added.

It was reported on Oct 9 that Guan Eng had announced that fresh polls would be held for the party’s CEC on Nov 12 at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam.
